50th Anniversary

PTI MIM Cascading Die Cuts provided just the inspiration I needed for a special 50th anniversary card.  I couldn't go home for Thanksgiving or Easter when I was in college.  It was too far to drive for just a week off & I didn't have money to fly.  My uncle, who I'd only met a couple times in my life, sent me a credit card to pay for gas & told me to come to their house anytime.  They also came to my graduation--a long drive with 3 kids including a baby!  I wanted a simple, elegant card, so decided to go with black, gold & cream.
After planning out the design on scratch paper, I die cut the 3 Twig Leaf blossoms from a cream panel.  Then the leaves from Turning a New Leaf were stamped in Delicata Golden Glitz--gorgeous shimmer in real life.  The sentiment from Mat Stack 3 Collection was stamped in Brilliance Graphite Black & I added some black splatters.  After attaching the stamped panel to a black mat, the blossom die cuts were inked in Golden Glitz & stacked 2 high.  I used rolled glue dots to attach the blossoms over the negative spaces & added black gems.  So satisfying when a card turns out the way you imagined.  I'm also entering SSS Wednesday.

Thought you might like to see the latest rose bouquet I brought into the house.  They're a lot of work to keep up, but I do love the flowers!  Thanks so much for taking time to stop by.

Triangle Medallion

It's my day on the PRS Blog & we're showcasing the newly released stamp set called Little Things.  It has fun images & wonderful sentiments.  I thought it'd be fun to make a medallion using one of the little images with 3 triangles.
Using a stamp positioner made it really easy.  I left the stamp in place & simply turned my cardstock.  The stamp was repositioned for each color change.  Speaking of colors, I used some of my favorite inks--pearlescent Brilliance in Lavender, Sky Blue & Jade.  The circle sentiment from School Days was stamped in Brilliance Starlite Black, clear embossed & punched out.  I matted it with 2 more circles to give a little dimension & then glued it over a nest of silver thread.
Decided not to add any embellishments, so it's pretty flat for mailing.  Lots of variations are possible by simply changing the position of the stamp, the colors & the sentiment.
Can't believe it's almost June, although it has been feeling a lot like summer around here.  Actually, we need some of the rain Oregon is famous for.  Thanks so much for taking time to stop by.
I'm entering SSS Wednesday.

Last Minute Again!

I'm getting good at last minute entries.  Actually, I was the one in college typing a paper in the hall closet while everyone else was asleep the night before it was due!
I have very few C&9 products & a huge wishlist, so decided I better get an entry made for the May Floral Challenge.  Once again I used the Floral Fill-In Patterned Paper with the matching stencils.  Such a clever idea!
The inks & matching cardstock are PTI Lilac Grace & Amethyst Allure.  The sentiment is from the C&9 Flourish Stamp set.  I used my Mini MISTI & stamped each word 3 times in Brilliance Starlite Black.  The curved edge was done with SSS A2 Curved Edge die.  Decided against embellishments, but I did add white dots to the printed ones.  It is amazing the difference it makes.

Yesterday I entered this card into the Freshly Made Sketches challenge via Flickr as I just had minutes until it closed.
It's also my entry for the Poppystamps challenge to use printed paper.  I really need that to be the challenge every month--haha!  It was fun to use a piece of the beautiful Lawn Fawn plaid paper with Distress Inks that matched for the watercoloring.  The flower & sentiment are from Poppystamps Friends & Flowers stamp set.  I'm also entering SSS Wednesday.  Thanks so much for taking time to stop by.
Edited to add: I think this card is pretty summery, so will also enter SSS Work It Wednesday.

Major Transformation

We don't watch auto racing routinely, but the Indy 500 is special.  My folks & I were all born in Indy & my grandfather worked at the race when he was young.  Growing up, we usually had a picnic on Memorial Day & my dad always listened to the race on the radio.  First, though, here's my card.
As most of you probably know, I really enjoy the PTI challenges.  It's fun to come up with something using the technique or theme given & most of the time I like the end result.  The newest challenge is Transformation Tuesday & it may be my favorite now.  Cards I'm not happy with are in my stash as though I might send them.  Here's the one I picked to redo this time--a huge card!
Original Card
There are things I like including the diamond matted tiny tag, leaf images & lots of green.  Luckily I was able to save the tiny tag & had just enough of the simply chartreuse cardstock between the squares to cut an additional mat.  I wanted to keep the green & white color scheme with a few more shades to make a fresh, lighter card.  This will probably go to a male relative with a birthday greeting inside.

New Card
The inks are Ripe Avocado (sentiment), Simply Chartreuse, Spring Moss, Green Parakeet & Limeade Ice.  The stamps are Tiny Tags (sentiment stamp & die), Garden Gild & Fancy Foliage.  I'm also entering The Snippets Playground (green mat), SSS WednesdayStamping Sensations & The Male Room.  Thanks so much for taking time to stop by.

Papertrey Ink May Blog Hop Challenge

Fun inspiration photo for this month's PTI Blog Hop, but I simply used the beautiful pink & purple flowers for my card.
I combined the hop with the PTI MIM challenge Above & Below--a design I love.
However, my use of some bigger images resulted in the whole card front being covered.
I'd still like to make another card more like Lizzie's.  I'm not happy with my choice of Soft Stone for the sponging & stenciling, but may send it anyway.  The flowers, leaves & sentiment are all from Friendly Flowers.  I used these colors of cardstock & ink:  Plum Pudding, Raspberry Fizz, Hisbiscus Burst, New Lawn & Vintage Jadeite.  Fun to use some of my huge collection of pearls.  Lots to see--enjoy the hop!  I'm also entering CAS-ual Fridays.  Thanks so much for taking time to stop by.

Leaves for an Anniversary Card

I missed the last W&W Rerun challenge & I was determined to get an entry made in time for Rerun No 30.  I'm always drawn to leaf images, but I don't have Framed with Evelyn T Designs.  Lots of inspiration from the DT & Kate's card really caught my eye.  I used 2 leaf images from In Bloom: Frenchy's Festive Florals with VersaMagic Oasis Green & Sage--love them together!
I made smaller gold clusters with Delicata Golden Glitz.  Funny thing--the tiny dot went flying as I wiped it clean & I couldn't find it anywhere.  Decided not to panic as I have several stamp sets that include a variety of dots.  Would you believe, the next morning there it was on the floor next to my chair!  I stamped the little word (old Flourishes set) in Oasis Green & heat embossed on a vellum strip.  It was attached to the panel which I'd die cut with Lil' Inker Stitched Rectangle.  W&W Happy die cut was stacked 3 high & the top one was sponged with the Golden Glitz.  I left off any embellishments as I didn't want it to be at all girly for the couple we sent it to.  Gotta say--I thoroughly enjoyed making this card & may case myself!  Roses are in full bloom, so gotta do some work outside today.  Love the flowers, but not the upkeep--haha!  I'm also entering HLS Anything Goes with Dies, SSS Wednesday & Stamping Sensations.  Thanks so much for taking time to stop by.

Precious Remembrance Shop New Release Stamp Set

Exciting month at PRS!  Thank you all for the sweet comments on my cards for our hop with Imagine Crafts.  Today it's time for a hop & giveaway to celebrate the new Little Things stamp set.
I was immediately drawn to the polka dot border--so many possibilities!  Rainbows are cheery & work for any occasion, so that's where I started.

The inks are Memento Love Letter, Morocco, Dandelion, Cottage Ivy & Nautical Blue.  I can see the same idea with an ombre color scheme--may try that next.  This set has lots of great images & wonderful little sentiments.  I'll be using this one over & over.  Finished off with white Nuvo Drops & now I have a card that works for a guy or a gal.
Lots of inspiration, so be sure to check out every stop on our hop.

IO Christmas Card

Challenge button
Last minute entry for the IO challenge to stamp your own background.  The stamps are IO C-A-C Spatter & Wrapped in Joy.  The die cuts are all done with IO All-In-One Frames-Ovals.
I gold embossed the background & largest oval frame in SSS Antique Gold.  The sentiment was stamped in Brilliance Rocket Red & the same ink was added to the scalloped die cut.  Simply finished off with dots of gold Stickles.  I really love the spatter stamp & need to use it more often.  Thanks so much for taking time to stop by.

Penny Black, SSS & PTI

I have 3 cards to share today.  Recently I watched another Jill Foster video for PB.  Even though my card looks nothing like her work, she did inspire me.
I stamped the gorgeous PB First Blush image in Versafine Smokey Gray on watercolor paper.  Then I painted Distress Inks peacock feathers, evergreen bough & pumice stone using a water brush.  I also added some peacock feathers splatters.  After it dried I overstamped with PB Music Background, lightly sponged the edges & stamped the Flourishes sentiment.  This one was already mailed to a friend celebrating her 25th anniversary.  I'm entering ATSM, PB&MPBSC & Stamping Sensations.

I had Distress Ink left over from painting the previous card, so grabbed a scrap of watercolor paper & covered it using the smooshing technique.
The SSS Flickr challenge is to use a stencil, so I applied Delicata Silvery Shimmer over the beautiful SSS Heart Mandala stencil with a sponge dauber.  I remembered THIS card made by my friend, Ros.  Love the idea of a beautiful background with a sentiment, so I just added SSS Painted Hugs die cut.
The top layer is sponged with the silver ink & I attached it so there's a white shadow.  The frame was made with Lil' Inker stitched rectangles & I added HA ombre sequins.  I'm also entering CropStop & HLS Anything Goes with Dies.
Challenges
Last is my entry for PTI CAWU.  There's always lots of inspiration from the DT, but this time it was an easy choice for me.  When I saw Dawn's Cover Up: Hexagons card colored with Zigs, I knew I wanted to do something similar using my Cover Up: Diamonds.
I used gold embossing & a combo of Zigs that's unusual for me: Orange, Pink Flamingo & Yellow.  The sentiment from Corner Adorner: February was attached with foam tape.  I used Summer Sunrise for the mat & finished off with clear gems.  Can't wait to use the diamonds stamp again!  I'm also entering Fusion just using the sketch.  At least I hope this is close enough.

PRS/Imagine Crafts Blog Hop Day 2

I'm back today with 3 more projects using the PRS stamp sets School Days & Totally along with Imagine Crafts products.  The Blog Hop begins at Precious Remembrance Shop where you'll find all the details.  There are prizes to be won, so check it out!
My first card shows how the School Days set doesn't have to be used just for teachers & students.  My sister-in-law was recently promoted to Sr VP of the company where she has worked for 20 years--so proud of her!  I'm happy to say she loves her card.
I began by spritzing a panel of white cardstock with Wedding Dress irRESISTible Texture Spray.  Using the direct to paper technique I covered it with Memento Lilac Posies & Angel Pink.  A clean cloth wiped the ink off the white texture spray.  I die cut a Spellbinders flower from the panel & matted it with a white doily from PRS.  For the center I stamped the circle sentiment in Lilac Posies, punched it out & mounted it with foam tape.
I used a Mama Elephant die for the card front which gave me a panel & a border.  I stamped the tracks image in Memento London Fog on each side of the panel, overlapping them, as you can see.  The little sentiment was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on a vellum strip & attached before adding the scalloped frame which had been inked with Lilac Posies.  I'm entering The Snippets Playground.
Edited to add: also entering CropStop (Spellbinders flower die)
My second card uses an adorable image from the School Days stamp set along with gorgeous Fireworks Shimmery Craft Spray in Tangelo, Rose Bud & Angel Pink.
I stamped the image in Versafine Onyx Black on white cardstock & then spritzed with the 3 sprays.  Next I used a small paintbrush to color in the images with the sprays--giving it several coats to get the intensity I wanted.  The shimmery sheen is just gorgeous!
I mounted the circle with foam tape to a panel with the 3 circle images stamped with the matching Memento inks.  I added tiny black splatters & attached it to the card front with black strips on each side.
My final card uses the Totally stamp set plus a little sentiment from Fall Colors
The big word was heat embossed 3 times with Imagine Crafts black embossing powder for a wonderfully shiny, raised effect.  I trimmed it out with scissors & worked on my card front.  First I stamped the wonderful border image in Delicata Rose Gold on black cardstock.  It is absolutely gorgeous & so fun to be able to stamp on dark papers with the Delicata inks.
The little star was stamped randomly in Memento Tuxedo Black & I added some splatters.  Tied in the border by stamping the sentiment in Rose Gold on a black strip.  For fun, I attached the big word at a bit of an angle.  Flat card, but lots of interest due to the great images, texture & metallic ink.  That's it from me, but lots of inspiration at each stop of the hop.  Don't forget to check out the giveaway info at the Precious Remembrance Shop Blog.  Thanks so much for taking time to stop by.
